Student Tour Options for Groups of Ten or More
(Prior Reservations Required)
Things to keep in mind:

Wayland Elem 1 copy.jpg (68010 bytes)  The time commitment indicated does not include lunch or restroom breaks. Picnic tables are located on the Park grounds. A visit to the Museum Store is strongly encouraged-- students will find many items to enforce and continue their history experience.When you are ready to book your group, click here!

Each tour is built around a focused theme. Additonal teaching modules are added depending on your time commitment.

All tours are $5.00 per student except the all day Sergeant’s Tour which is $6.00 per student. Free admission is extended to Teachers, Chaperones (one for every ten students), Bus Drivers and Group Representative.


The Private's Tour
: This is our most popular student program offered at the Park.

Time Needed: 2 Hours

·        Guided tour of the battlefield and Bushong farm yard 


The Cadet Tour: This program option includes all of the exciting components of the Private's Tour, plus our Emmy-award winning film Field of Lost Shoes. 

Time Needed: 2 Hours, 45 minutes

 Features:

·        Interactive orientation of the Park
·        Hall of Valor Museum Scavenger Hunt
·       "Equipping the Soldier" interactive hands-on program
·        Guided tour of the battlefield and Bushong farm yard
·        Emmy Award-winning film Field of Lost Shoes, a docu-drama on the battle


The Haversack Tour: This program option includes all
of the exciting components of the Private's Tour, plus an
interactive program focusing on a soldier's personal
belongings and the relevancy for today's students. 

Time Needed: 2 Hours, 30 minutes

·        "Equipping the Soldier" interactive hands-on program
·        Guided tour of the battlefield and Bushong farm yard
·       "Haversack" interactive hands on program

The School of the Soldier Tour: This program option includes all of the exciting components of the Private's Tour, plus a hands-on program that allows students to experience how raw recruits became disciplined soldiers. Students are taught the rudiments of military drill and are shown with wooden rifles how a soldier loaded his rifle in nine steps.

Time Needed: 2 Hours, 30 minutes

·        Guided tour of the battlefield and Bushong farm yard
·       "School of the Soldier" interactive hands-on program

Life on the Farm: This program option includes all of the exciting components of the Private's Tour, plus a hands-on program at the Bushong Farm kitchen showing the uses of the outbuildings and a butter making exercise for the students. 

Time Needed: 2 Hours, 45 minutes

 Features:

·        Guided Tour of the 1825 Bushong Farmhouse
·        Discussion of How Civilians were affected by the Civil War.
·        Guided tour of the battlefield
·        "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors" interactive hands-on program
·        "Games from the Farm" interactive hands-on program

 
The Sergeant's Tour: This program option includes
all of the exciting components described above!

 Time Needed: 5 Hours
